Finally Tsomgo Lake

After almost three hours of rather rough journey, we finally arrived at the lake. The cold breeze greeted us as we stepped off from the jeep – a ‘warm’ welcome to this group of Malaysians!? Perhaps there have not been too many Malaysians visiting this place.

I felt good walking alongside the lake, enjoying the gentle cold breeze while absorbing in the beautiful scenery. The lake is only 18km from the Chinese (Tibet) border at Nathula. I would love to continue walking… walk and walk until I reach the bother! But this is a highly sensitive and restricted area, we were not allowed to ‘simply wander’ around, let alone to reach the border! Our guide told us that if we were to go beyond the ‘limit’, he would get into trouble with the authority.

Finally we were at Tsomgo Lake!

Walking alongside the lake, cold and windy…

…while others choose to go on
the yak, especially the children.

The furthest we were allowed to go, only
18km away from Nathula (in Tibet). Our
guide constantly reminded us not to go further.

After the good time at the lake, it was back to the mist, jam and…

…the winding and…

…‘cliff-hanging’ journey
